American Red Cross Activities
Disaster planning, preparedness, education, and relief.  All Red Cross disaster relief is provided free of charge to victims.

Armed Forces Emergency Services.  Through Red Cross programs, service men and women are able to communicate with their families during family emergencies, receive verification of information for emergency leave, travel home during times of crisis, and receive domestic violence counseling from a number of dedicated paid and volunteer caseworkers.

Health & Safety Training. For more than a century, the American Red Cross has been saving lives with health and safety education programs.  To help grow our outreach, the American Red Cross of Northwest North Carolina builds relationships with community organizations, groups, and individuals either by providing them with direct services through classes and presentations via volunteers or staff, and/or identifying areas of long-term collaboration.

The American Red Cross has a great deal to offer external groups including programs in First Aid, CPR, AED and Youth Programs that can enhance an organization's mission and add value to their outreach.

International Services. Families torn apart by civil unrest or disaster can turn to the Red Cross for assistance in finding their lost loved ones. The Chapter assists people with international tracing, international messages, and education on International Humanitarian Law.

Volunteers. More than 800 people volunteered regularly with the American Red Cross of Northwest North Carolina last year to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Blood Services. The American Red Cross controls nearly half the nation's blood supply. Red Cross provides local, comprehensive blood services to the Northwest North Carolina area. For more information, call 1-800-GIVE–LIFE.

Contributions
The American Red Cross is a voluntary, charitable organization. It is not a government agency. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs.  We rely on donations of time, money and blood to do our work.
