To our Media Friends:

We can help you develop a compelling and timely story for your audience. Maybe it's an inspirational feature about a dedicated volunteer or it's an educational story about our Youth In Action. Call us now to learn more.

*Local emergencies.
At a major fire, building collapse or other local disaster we are on the scene in minutes, helping the first responders as well as those directly affected. We offer you timely and updated information about how we are helping those affected.

*National emergencies.

We have trained volunteers that respond to national emergencies all over the country.  They take off time from their job or family responsibilities for at least two weeks to serve other families in distress.

*Winter storm? Heat wave? Water safety?
Our health and safety experts offer authoritative information to help your audience prepare for these events and other natural disasters. We can supply a variety of safety tips and provide an expert to demonstrate and discuss.

*Armed Forces Emergency Service
There is more to the Red Cross than responding to disasters. Our program includes emergency communications to armed forces families in our area and International Tracing.

*Doing an "Everyday Hero" story?
We have hundreds of dependable volunteers working with us throughout the year. Some respond to families affected by fires or emergencies; others greet donors at our W-Salem Blood Center and at blood drives in our communities.  Also, youth volunteers, ages 14 and up, give up some of their summer vacation to teach first aid classes to 3rd-5th graders.  Without volunteers, the Red Cross could not fulfill our mission.

*A Disaster Action Team ride-along.
Bring your crew along for a ride with one of our Disaster Action Teams (DAT). DAT volunteers respond to emergencies 24/7/365.  They respond to fires and other emergencies by offering free American Red Cross assistance to help people get back on their feet. You must have approval in advance.

*Attend a health and safety training class.
Every day the American Red Cross is teaching people in Davie, Forsyth, Stokes and Yadkin Counties how to save lives. We teach CPR and First Aid with Automated External Defibrillator training and more.  Companies rely on us to train employees in lifesaving skills each year. You must have approval in advance.

*Disaster Education Classes
We offer disaster preparedness classes & presentations to adults and children.  It's free and we can even teach it at your location!
